Arinsal Andorra

hi all and let me first start by saying this site helps a great deal, im planning a skiing trip over the newyear period with my wife and 4 other friends, i have been four times before but the rest have yet to ski on snow, we have found a beginners package with we are all going with including myself as its been a few years since i last visited the snow.

if i find my feet can i just skip off and do my own thing, also when we last visited the slopes we got a meal on the slopes by them scanning my lift pass, what do u do for food in arinsal on the slopes, if anyone could help me as i have never been to arinsal before, please post me a messege back, thanks to all and happy skiing

If you are a already a skier, of course you can just do your own thing. After all it is YOUR holiday. I suggest that you read my blog on Private or group lessons. As far as meals are concerned: There are several eating places on the mountain. All of them of a similar standard. I often suggest that clients take the telecabina back to the village,a short 4 minute ride. There you will find a selection of Pubs ,Hotels and Restaurants. The QUO VADIS, (Turn left and it is 40 metres walk from the telecabina) They do good Pub grub. Or opposite is the XALET, a restaurant that has a special lunch time menu. English is spoken in both. There are several others within a few minutes walk. Hope that it is some help. Have a great holiday.

I have the solution when it comes to restaurants on the slopes in Arinsal: if you don't want to eat badly, get ripped off, get your food almost thrown at you and all that served by a miserable individual, I suggest you take a sandwich! Another solution, as Ian suggests, get off the slopes and back down to Arinsal for lunch.

Actually I'd like to stick up for the Refugi here (it's the restaurant next to the beginner slopes). I had a very nice 3 course Sunday lunch there at the weekend with a few colleagues, a bottle of wine, followed by coffee and brandy all at a reasonable price. I wouldn't recomend many other places on the mountain for more than a coffee stop though.

I'm in Chamonix (in France) for the week and just paid 3 Euros for an instant coffee on the mountain. The food is far pricier and the quality and service are worse than the Andorran mountain restaurants.

So in spite of the negative comments above, we are not too badly off in Arinsal compared to other resorts.
