Hi Folks

First time to Arinsal next week staying at the Palerine.

Any advice / recommendations welcome.

Also would like to know if we can wear our ski boots on the ski bus and carry our skis or do we need to find storage at the top of the mountain.

Any help appreciated.

Ellen

Hi,

I have similar questions re the ski bus and locker hire in resort but asvit's also our first time in Arnsal next week I was wondering if somebody could tell we where's the best place in Arinsal to get ski's waxed/serviced as our local store needs 10 day turnaround.

Thanks very much

There is storage at the ski station, and I recommend that you take advantage of it. If you are with a tour operator they will offer you place in one of their cages for a small fee, or if not you can book a private locker for the week. It is all much better than carrying the skis up and down every day, and if you are staying in the Palarine then you will certainly prefer not having to carry the skis on the bus every day.

The lockers are not for boots by the way. The ski boots need to be put somewhere warm each night and the locker room is not heated. Your hotel room will be quite adequate.

Whilst you could wear your ski boots on the ski bus, again you might prefer to carry the boots and change into them in the locker room. Ski boots are not comfortable to walk any distance.

My friend John who stays at the Palarine is the best knowledge for bus times up and back from the village, I recommend that you ask him rather than tour operator reps, since he travels to and from Arinsal every day using the buses.

I believe that Esports Rossell and 5150 will wax & edge skis if left in the early evening and will try to have them ready for the next morning. More significant servicing will most likely take a little longer.

see you next week.

Kev.

Hi Kev

Thanks for the information. If we use the lockers, will we be able to leave our shoes/boots the during the day? presumably there is somewhere to change into ski boots?

Hi Ellen,

Yes of course you can change in the locker room, and you can leave your boots, extra jumpers etc etc in your locker. You just need to make sure that your ski boots get a chance to dry in a warm place, and the locker room is not suitable overnight.

Hi Ellen,
I am in England at present but hope to be at the Palarine on Saturday. I give a welcome talk there on Sunday afternoons. Hope to meet you then.

What Kevin says about skis and boots is correct. But I am not sure about the boot room, as I have not been to the storage area this season. Last year there was a heated boot room payable locally. I noticed that one of the Ski shops on the mountaon was offering a storage service. I do not know their terms or prices.

As Kevin said,I think it is so much better leaving your equipment on the mountain rather than taking it back to the Palarine as youy may wish to visit a bar for an apres ski drink or even walk back for a bit of exercise. I am sure that it will all work out OK.

Hi

Kev - Thanks for the info you've been very helpful.

Johnmac - We arrive at the Palarine on Sunday so hopefully we will be able to listen to your talk..... we'll be the ones looking very tired as we set off at 3am Sunday morning. What time is your talk and where about in the hotel?

Ellen

Hi Helen,

All Crystal guests in the Palarine have a welcome meeting with the Rep and a ski instructor (me). It takes place in the bar about 4 pm. The Palarine is Erts about 20 minutes from the main resort. I walk it most evenings. There is a bus service. I will explain when we meet.
