Re:New to Skiing, Coming to Arinsal in Feb 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Whilst I have not been to Arinsal, it appears the advise you have been given is very good. I have done Andorra a couple of times mainly Pas and Canilo. The only pain is the journey. Fly to Toulouse and then approx 4 hour journey to resort. If things have not changed, the coach will stop in a town just before you start climbing up to the resorts. When you stop you will have time for a pee and a coffee and a sandwich of some type. This can be a bit hectic with all the coaches stopping off and you scramble for service. The cafe people and others put there wares on display on tables outside. There are public toilets in the car park and the cafe. The driver does not hang around too long. Then the twisty road up if you or your partner suffer from vertigo get an inside seat. Your journey might be slightly longer as you are on the other side of the Capital nearer the Spanish Border. Dump your skis and boots after your days skiing, there is nothing worse than humping this awkward equipment around. You will find that on "occasions" you will have a double set. Partner being the "weaker" sex. The shop mentioned by another contributor sounds the business. Ski school for a few days will be a drag as some of your class mates will be useless and you are governed by their progress or lack of same. Someone suggested the next grade and if you can get about, this might be ideal. What ever happens, you will be re-sorted by the instructor after a few days. Enjoy your trip.
