New Year in Arinsal 3 Months ago
I stayed in Arinsal last March (2007) and although many of the slopes were closed as it was close of season I still had a really good time.

I'm thinking of coming back when the resort and slopes are busier and possibly for new year.

Has anyone been at this time of year? What happens in resort and are all the slopes open as normal?

Thanks.

Hi,

This March we've had lots of snow and nearly all the runs have been open. Last year I seem to remember plenty of snow in March too - much more than in February.

At New Year the resort will be busier - it tends to be busiest during school holidays - then January will be quieter. Everything will be open as usual, the bars will have New Year parties people will drink too much and have a good time. The supermarkets will probably be shut for the day, but restaurants and ski shops will open as normal.

During the season, the slopes open according to snow cover, aided by the artificial snow cannons. The main runs will be open from sometime early December until April. Other runs such as Les Marades down to the village, the runs on the Capa, and some of the runs in Pal, are more susceptible to wind or warm spells so open when the snow is good enough.

If you are thinking of booking now, the tour companies are already taking bookings. Have a look at our travel section for a list of tour companies travelling here, or the accomodation section if you want to book independently.

Ian
